i fell in love with a sweet sensation, i gave my heart to a simple chord

Baa Ram Ewe! Don't you think they look just like sheepies? Maybe I should name them - well, there's Ma, Shaun of course...

Another 'short over long' outfit - this is becoming a bit of an obsession of mine. And could I wear my denim shirt any more than I currently am? I think not. It is the most versatile item ever. Much like I hoped this skirt would be, except that as soon as I walked two steps it rode up so high it was indecent and back to Topshop it went. I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect simple black miniskirt and so now I am back to it. And no, I am not brave/stupid enough to be wearing bare legs at this time of year, they are flesh-toned stockings and I am wearing them all the time now. I used to think them a bit of an old lady/office wear anomaly but when you seriously can't tell the difference between these and real legs I think it is okay. Well I accept that's a big 'maybe', but I'm loving the expansion of outfit possibilities in that 'anticipation of summer but it's really still a long way off but I can't bear wearing the same old opaque tights or jeans again' season.

louder than silence louder than bells

Never one to be bothered by the weather, I was rather shocked when S.A.D. turned up today. Just in time for the official most depressing day of the year on Monday, today I just feel blaargh.

Red lips and a food-themed outfit would cheer anyone up, right? Well not exactly, see I have a cold so my lips are really dry and I had to take my lippy off halfway through the day :-(

I am feeling pretty unhappy with this-here blog at the moment. I really wish I had a decent camera, or at least a tripod so I could take better photos of myself. (Note how you can't even see my popcorn necklace in any of these pics?). I would really like to be able to make this blog something I can be proud of. I tried to cheer myself up with a smiley photo shoot...

But perhaps it is just because I went to Topshop today and didn't buy one thing. They are renovating or something so there is only about half the usual changerooms open, and the idea of getting my gear off didn't appeal anyway, so I left empty handed even though I had seen lots of things I liked :-(

I have decided I need: an SLR; a tripod; this Whistles dress; a checked shirt dress; MAC gel liquid eyeliner; Maltesers, stat!

Coat: Whistles; Top: H&M; Jeans, Brogues: Topshop; Wafer brooch: Paris; Popcorn necklace: Tatty Devine.

An end to life on the down-low?

Heels have never played a major part in my life. They're more like an occasional guest star, but not even one you are happy to see, you know, because of the pain, hobbling, and slow-walking. Not to mention they are kind of against the code of ethics of my day job.
But recently I have been wondering if maybe I should give them a bit more of a go. There are just so many more cool outfit opportunities, and a certain air and grace you get when you walk in them.
These past two weeks I have seen plenty and fallen in love with a few pairs, but none so much as these amazing wedges from Topshop...

But having said that, I am also pleasantly surprised to report there are many more options available with a low or flat heel this season. Maybe the stores have finally realised that we live in a city where we don't have cars, we walk miles everyday, and there are cobblestones everywhere!!

Hmm, got any blacker? Sorry, but it is coming into winter!

Top of the shops

There is a reason why they call it Topshop you know. And there is a reason why I have been avoiding it since I've been back in London. My sister is in town, so we met up for a shopping trip yesterday - she searching for a leopard print coat, me still on a buying moratorium. But now I want so many things!! The next couple of months is going to be sooo hard.

Note several of them are Kane related. I really didn't like the stuff when I first saw it, but some of the pieces have really grown on me. Need those sweatpants!

bmibaby!

I know, I just did a cutesy puppy post last week, but I swear the cutesy baby post is actually for the outfit I am wearing in it! I forgot to take any photos of me by myself :-P (though the bub is very cute! He is Mylan and he just got that stage where all of a sudden a baby is interesting and can smile and stuff).

This is my most favourite skirt suit (okay, pretty sure it's my only skirt suit) that I bought from Topshop just before I left London in March. I have actually had heaps of wear out of it in Aus. Both pieces look fab on their own, but I really like wearing it together, it's just the right side of too much, you know? The skirt has the cutest bow on the bum! Will have to take a photo of that too one day. Oh, and this bow tie necklace is also a current favourite from my beloved Sportsgirl that unlike the Reece heels, gets lots of wear.

Man my hair misses Vanessa! Why does my hairdresser always have to live on the opposite side of the world to where I am? 4 months and counting since I last had my hair cut.

But my ankles were feeling naked!

I am completely and utterly obsessed with ankle boots and have been for the past year or so. I have bought several pairs, but just can’t seem to find the right mix of manageable heel height, fit around the ankle and the key ingredient, fabulousness. Well, I think I may have found something close to perfect, on Topshop.com. I know I will have to cart them back to London in my already stuffed luggage as soon as next month, but I just couldn’t resist the opportunity. It may never come again! And look! Just look how great they are! I wore them today to the supermarket, I just couldn’t wait. They are going to go with everything.
